Check Ahead

One of the most important tools in worry free traveling
is information.  Improvements are underway in some
terminals at DFW International Airport.  In addition, the
highways near the north airport entrance are under
construction.  Plus, we are entering the time in winter
when ice and snow are a greater possibility.

Check with your airlines for canceled or postponed
flights when ice and snow appear.  Winter weather can
also cause delays or cancellations for bus and train
travel.  Use the airport, airline, train and bus links on the
links page to check travel status.  Allow extra time to
get to the airport and to your gate to be safe.

THE NEW YEAR CAN BRING NEW CHALLENGES.........

The holiday season  is over, a new year has begun, and the coldest part of winter is
looming.  For most people this signals new hopes, opportunities and resolutions to
improve our lives.

There is; however, a growing number of people who
se hopes and resolutions will be
for a safe and warm place to live, a job, a final chance to be with a dying loved one etc.
With the number of people living at or below the poverty level growing dramatically, the
number of people wishing to simply
become or return to being self sufficient is also
growing.  Many of these people have recently lost their jobs and houses due to the
lingering economic downturn.  Their
resolutions are for a safe, warm and dry place to
live.....friends and family that can provide support and help them transition to the next
step in their lives, and provide a life for their children that is as close to normal as
possible.

Many of these people come to Travelers Aid Dallas/Fort Worth for help.  The demand for
emergency travel assistance is up 22% over last year.  This increase in demand has
taken a toll on resources available to help our clients.

Help those in need achieve their resolutions by considering a financial
gift to Travelers Aid Dallas/Fort Worth.
 .  A gift to Travelers Aid Dallas/Fort
Worth makes a difference in the lives of families and children who find themselves
without the resources many of us take for granted.  You too can be a Helping Hand
Along the Way!

Large or small, your tax deductible donation will go to help families and individuals who
are in crisis, in transition or who are separated from their support systems, achieve a
sense of stability and safety.
