Who We Are......
Travelers Aid Dallas/Fort Worth is a social service agency located at Dallas/Fort Worth
International Airport.  We are a member of Travelers Aid International.  We provide a variety of
services to families and individuals who are in crisis, transition, or who are separated from
their normal support systems.  We also provide airport and area information through agency
volunteers, and operate the lost and found for DFW International Airport.

WINTER TRAVEL

Over the next few months, the country will experience many travel related
challenges.  Snow, ice, and heavy rains are expected.  Be sure to double check your
route if driving, or your flight, train, or bus schedules.  There will be cancellations and
changes as conditions warrant.  Be sure to also pack extra medicines and baby
supplies in case you get stranded.

According to Travel and Leisure magazine you should follow these steps -
particularly if you are flying:
1.   Be your own advocate: Go online, get on the phone, and step in line to get
yourself rebooted. Also consider calling the airline’s international reservations desk—
or, if you have access, speaking to the agents at an airport lounge.
2.  Find out if there are alternate seats available on other planes. For this, Travel
and Leisure suggests that you use the Seat Availability function on the website
FlightStats.com.
3.  Consider alternate airports to get home. You my be able to pick up a rental car
and drive the rest of the way. Travel insurance should cover the cost of the rental.
4.  Get comfortable. You may have to spend a night or two in the terminal.  Many
airports (including DFW) will provide cots and blankets on request pending
availability.  Many airports have "mini-suites" concessions available where you can
rent a small room with bed and shower.  Finally, you may be able to buy a day pass
to an airport lounge for about $50. Try Gate guru to locate the best airport bars and
restaurants for waiting out a delay. Worst-case scenario? Use the Hotel Tonight AP
to find a great last-minute deal on a stylish hotel room.

Many of these same or similar options are available at major train and bus stations.

This is also a difficult time of year for people living on the streets.  We may be able to
help individuals get to a place of safety and support.  One thing needed for that to
happen is financial support.  Please see the donation button above to donate so we
can help people get home.
